Maria Teresa Pisani
Maria Teresa Pisani is working as Acting Head, Sustainable Trade and Outreach Unit at United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. She is currently managing the work on sustainable trade and outreach within the Trade Facilitation Section at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (Geneva). She has previously worked for the International Labour Organization (Turin) and the European Commission (Brussels), gaining more than 10 years of experience in the areas of environmental governance, sustainable development, and trade.
Adrian von Mühlenen
Dr. Adrian von Muhlenen from BASF coatings and Catena X ecosystem has over 15 years of background in technology, 10+ year’s experience in technology innovation, and a 5 years background in entrepreneurship. He holds a micro engineering degree and a PhD in material science, both from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). He is also a founding member of a satellite of a swiss research and technology organization in Basel.
Circular Design Network project coordinator Dr. Päivi Kivikytö-Reponen is working at VTT as an Industrial Circular Economy Research Team Leader. Päivi is actively working with resource efficiency and circular materials, sustainable material substitution and utilization of secondary raw materials and residues.
Roosa Muukkonen, BA (Design), is a Master’s student in Aalto University and a research trainee at VTT. Roosa has been working on the Circular Design Network and is behind the visuals of Data-Driven Circular Design – A Guide Book. Roosa is interested in strategic design, circular storytelling and transdisciplinary approaches to sustainability and circularity.
Susanna Horn, DSc (Econ.). Senior research scientist in the Center for Sustainable Consumption and Production at the Finnish Environment Institute. She is currently working in projects related to circular economy and life cycle approaches related to textiles, plastics, digital devices and digitalisation, metals, as well as ecodesign, innovation and data questions. Her main expertise is in the strategic use of life cycle methods. Prior to working in SYKE, she has worked in the metals and mining sector in sustainability and innovation positions, as well as in the university sector as a researcher. PhD in business-related application of LCA methodologies, Master’s degrees in Economics and Sustainable Resource Management.
Kiia Mölsä is a researcher in the Center for Sustainable Consumption and Production at the Finnish Environment Institute. Her work focuses on utilizing life cycle approaches to analyze environmental sustainability of different products and services. Kiia’s latest projects have related to especially circularity strategies and ecodesign of textiles as well as water management systems. Kiia has a master’s degree in water and environmental engineering and prior to her research career she has worked in consulting in the field of water management.
Dr. Sonja Lavikko is a Research Scientist at Geological Survey of Finland. Her background is in quaternary geology and mineralogy, concentrating in mine site R&D, mineralogy and circular economy promotion. Her Post doc-research has focused on troubleshooting the battery value chain from the mineral circularity point of view. Her doctoral dissertation in 2017 focused on geological and mineralogical aspects on mineral carbonation, aiming to utilize CO2-emissions and mine waste.
Dr. Tommi Kauppila develops scientific competence for management of the environmental issues of mining projects as a Research Professor at Geological Survey of Finland. His research topics include utilization and management of mining wastes, management of continuous and integrated mine closure, cemented paste backfilling, sustainable mining, surface water impacts of mine waters, environmental impact and risk assessment of mining projects, and risk profiling of exploration targets.
